PARIS

Walking through the beautiful City of Lights, I stumbled across one of its magnificent Metro access canopies.

Its sensual shape and beautiful green patina from the Art Nouveau era and the open fan shape with curved glass in between its ribs inspired the back of the Paris chair.

The peacock being one of the staple elements of the Nouveau designs through the city, also plays a role on how this Paris chair design comes together. The plush green velvet on the seat, and a coquette button detail on its back, always reminding me of the fashionable sense of Parisian women and the beauty found in French femininity and sumptuous curves.

NEW YORK

Within the massive concrete jungle New York, while walking through its streets, suddenly the imposing Chrysler Building and all its majestic Art Deco patterns and metallic colors appears and shines up in the sky. I felt like my whole perspective of the concrete city was changed.

“There he is, standing tall and handsome,” I think every time I see it. The architecture inspired the New York chair to come to life.

Old glamour and timeless patterns grace its facades, and this special chair pays homage to its unique style. Manhattan is connected to the mainland by stunning bridges; one of them being my favorite, the Brooklyn Bridge. Its unforgettable geometry, impressive symmetry and construction also inspires some of the features of this chair, shown connecting together its vital part, as these tension cables hold together the livelihood of this beautiful structure.

MARRAKESH

Walking around the souk in Marrakesh, I can’t help but notice an overload of history, texture, patterns, smells, shapes, colors and the unforgettable Moroccan Indigo Blue, which I immediately fall in love with. All this was the inspiration for he Marrakesh chair.

Stars are predominant on the patterns and symbols in the city; they are featured on the designs of the chair back and sides. The Indigo is monochromatic, as it does not need much else to impress, however the height of the back stands tall, representing how Marrakesh stands tall and magnificent in the middle of the Moroccan desert.

MADRID

As soon as the heels from the Flamenco dancer at a dimly lit Spanish Tasca in Madrid hit the old wood floor from the stage, my heart starts racing. The passion is contagious as she turns, making the flamenco dress flow, stumping on her chest with her closed strong hands. This unforgettable performance is what inspired the Madrid chair.

The bold patterns and strong color from the dresses, as well as the accessories to compliment the traditional Spanish look, are part of this chair design. The dancer’s body is represented with the curves on the seat, from the top tapering down to the bottom. This beautiful part of Spanish culture, and the passion I felt during this performance, is expressed in my Madrid chair design.

MIAMI

The turquoise color of the water in South Beach blends in with the clear sky.

As I turn back to look at the city, the contrast of the Art Deco style of the buildings and their colors suspiciously come together to create the whole scenery of Miami Beach. This is the inspiration for the Miami chair.

A modern take on the classic Adirondack chairs, which are still bracing the beaches in Miami gives it the overall design, and the very graphic Deco patterns on the remaining historic buildings which are represented on the back slats of the chair. This chair portrays the historic sensitivity along with the ever-growing new and fresh feels of Miami.
